How Dart Charge Works
The Dartford Crossing (the A282 link across the Thames on the M25) is charged using ANPR cameras, not toll booths. You cannot pay at the crossing; you must pay before crossing or by midnight the day after (you can pay up to 30 days in advance). Charges apply every day between 06:00 and 22:00, and crossings between 22:00 and 06:00 are free.
What It Costs
A two-axle goods vehicle pays £4.20, or £3.60 with a prepay account; cars pay £3.50, or £2.80 with an account; heavier multi-axle vehicles pay more. A Dart Charge account gives the reduced rate and, more importantly for fleets, removes the daily race against the payment deadline.
