Austrian GO-Maut: Integrating Austria's Truck Toll With Fleevo

Austria charges trucks over 3.5 tonnes a distance-based toll through the GO-Box, plus special section tolls on Alpine routes. Here's how the GO-Maut works and how Fleevo turns it into per-vehicle cost visibility.

Austria sits on some of Europe's busiest transit corridors, and its truck toll, the GO-Maut, is unavoidable for fleets crossing the Alps. It combines a distance-based network charge with extra tolls on specific mountain routes, so the cost of an Austrian leg depends heavily on which roads a truck uses.

What Is the GO-Maut?

The GO-Maut is Austria's distance-based toll for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, charged on the motorway and expressway network and administered by ASFINAG. Trucks pay using the GO-Box, a small electronic device fitted to the windscreen that communicates with gantries over the road and records each kilometre driven.

How It Is Calculated

The toll depends on the number of axles, the vehicle's emission class, and the time of day, with CO2-based pricing introduced in 2024. On top of the network toll, certain Alpine routes, such as the Brenner motorway, carry separate section tolls (Streckenmaut), which can add significantly to a trans-Alpine journey.

Getting Set Up

The GO-Box is available from ASFINAG sales points and online, with a small administration fee and a minimum credit balance to start. Zero-emission trucks receive a substantial discount (around 75% off, in place until 2030), another incentive for fleets electrifying their heavier vehicles.

Why Connect It to Fleevo

Between the network toll and the Alpine section tolls, Austrian charges are easy to under-budget. Connected to Fleevo, each GO-Maut charge is attributed to the vehicle and route that incurred it, so the true cost of your Austrian and trans-Alpine lanes is visible alongside the rest of your fleet spend.

Bringing Austrian Toll Data Into Fleevo

Fleevo is built to consolidate fleet charges, so GO-Maut costs, including Alpine section tolls, can sit in one view, attributed to the vehicle and route that incurred them, alongside your fuel, other tolls, and fines.
