Eurovignette: Integrating the Time-Based Truck Toll With Fleevo

The Eurovignette is a time-based truck toll, now covering Luxembourg and Sweden after Denmark and the Netherlands left. Here's how it works, who it applies to, and how Fleevo keeps the charges tied to the right vehicles.

The Eurovignette is the odd one out among European truck charges: you pay for time, not distance. It has also shrunk sharply as member countries leave for their own distance-based systems, so fleets need to know where it still applies before budgeting a route.

What the Eurovignette Is

The Eurovignette is a time-based road charge for heavy goods vehicles, based on EU Directive 1999/62. Rather than paying per kilometre, you buy access for a period, a day, week, month, or year, and the truck can run as much as it likes on the participating network within that window. It applies to vehicles with a gross weight over 12 tonnes.

Who's Still In It

The membership has changed significantly. Denmark left at the start of 2025, and the Netherlands left on 1 July 2026 to introduce its own distance-based toll. As of mid-2026, the Eurovignette covers Luxembourg and Sweden. Fleets that previously bought one vignette for several countries now need to check each country's current system separately.

CO2-Based Pricing

Since March 2025, CO2 emission classes feed into Eurovignette pricing, so two otherwise-similar Euro VI trucks can be quoted different rates depending on their CO2 band, with cleaner, VECTO-certified vehicles paying less on the annual rate.

Why Connect It to Fleevo

Even a time-based charge needs to be attributed correctly, which vehicle, which period, which country. Connected to Fleevo, Eurovignette costs sit alongside your distance-based tolls, fuel, and fines, so the full road-charge picture for a route is in one place rather than split across systems.
